Treehouse Cottage is our original retreat - a cozy, custom-built 750-square-foot cottage tucked among the hāpuʻu ferns and ʻōhiʻa rainforest of Volcano Village, just minutes from Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Warm pine interiors and large picture windows give the cottage a true treehouse feel, with lush forest views in nearly every direction. Step outside onto the spacious sun deck to enjoy the quiet rainforest by day and Volcano’s wonderfully dark, star-filled skies at night.

Designed for couples, friends, and small families, the studio-style cottage features one bedroom area with a queen-size bed, partially walled from the main living space for privacy. A full-size futon provides additional sleeping space, allowing the cottage to accommodate up to four guests. The well-equipped kitchen makes it easy to prepare meals at home, while the wood-burning stove adds extra warmth and atmosphere on cool Volcano evenings.

 At approximately 4,000 feet elevation, Volcano offers a refreshingly different side of Hawaiʻi, with lush rainforest, cooler temperatures, and easy access to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Guests should be prepared for temperatures that commonly dip into the 50s at night, even when other parts of the island are quite warm. Treehouse Cottage does not have air conditioning, and on cooler evenings guests can warm the cottage with the wood-burning stove. We provide the firewood and supplies you’ll need to enjoy it.

Treehouse Cottage provides a peaceful and private home base for exploring Volcano Village, the National Park, and the surrounding area.

Please note: The main living and sleeping area is on the second floor and is accessible only by stairs, so Treehouse Cottage may not be suitable for guests with mobility limitations.

Fern Cottage - STVR 19-345557, NUC 19-293

Fern Cottage is our larger retreat - a cozy yet spacious 900-square-foot, two-bedroom cottage tucked among the hāpuʻu ferns and ʻōhiʻa rainforest of Volcano Village, just minutes from Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. High vaulted pine ceilings, wood floors, and numerous large windows create a warm, open interior while keeping the surrounding rainforest constantly in view.

Our spacious covered lanai that wraps two sides of the house overlooks our private half-acre property and provides a wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee, listen to the rain, or simply relax among the ferns and bird calls. The primary bedroom even has its own private entrance directly onto the covered lanai.

Fern Cottage comfortably accommodates couples, families, and small groups, with two separate bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, plus a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living area for additional guests. A full kitchen and thoughtfully equipped living spaces make the cottage especially comfortable for longer stays.

At approximately 4,000 feet elevation, Volcano is considerably cooler than many visitors expect from Hawaiʻi. Even when the coast is warm, nighttime temperatures here commonly dip into the 50s. Fern Cottage does not have air conditioning, but for cooler evenings it has a freestanding gas fireplace stove in the living area as well as wall-mounted electric fireplace heaters, making it easy to keep the cottage warm and comfortable.
